What makes Annecy special
Annecy is one of France's most consistently beautiful cities — a medieval Old Town of pastel-coloured arcaded streets, flowing canals, and 14th-century towers built directly over water that earns it the "Venice of the Alps" title. The Lac d'Annecy is among the clearest lakes in Europe, and the mountains that rise from its shores on every side give the town an almost theatrical backdrop.
The city attracts visitors year-round. Summer brings swimmers, paddleboarders, and cyclists along the 36-km lake circuit. Winter turns Annecy into a gateway for the surrounding ski resorts — La Clusaz, Le Grand-Bornand, and Semnoz are all under 30 minutes from the town centre. The Christmas market is one of the most atmospheric in the French Alps.

Why take a private transfer rather than the train?
The train from Lyon to Annecy requires a change at Aix-les-Bains and does not serve Lyon Airport directly. A private transfer is often faster in practice — no connection stress, no dragging luggage onto a crowded platform, and no separate taxi at the end to reach your hotel.
For a group of three or more, the €120 flat rate (sedan) works out cheaper than individual train tickets plus a taxi at the Annecy end — and you travel in a Mercedes-Benz rather than a crowded train carriage.
